Parameters Affecting Reader Selection

Application Requirement:

The shape, size and functionality of a reader change according to the application of the RFID

system. Some of the common RFID systems are conveyor reading, dock door reading, forklift

reading, mobile reading etc.

Frequency Range:

A suitable reader, for a given application, can be selected to match the frequency range chosen

(LF, HF, UHF or Microwave). Multi-frequency readers can be chosen if the application requires

using both short as well as long read/write ranges.

Read/Write Range:

Read range is based on the frequency chosen, functionality of the tag and power of the reader.

Write range is the distance from which a reader can write tags. This range is usually 70% of read

range.
